About
We build project controls for the people accountable for the number.
Foras is construction project-controls software. It connects what happens on site with project cost, Finance actuals and forecast, so commercial teams can say where a project will financially finish and explain why that answer is changing.
Why we built it
Site and Finance rarely agree, and nobody can explain the gap.
On most projects the operational cost picture and the Finance ledger tell different stories. Site knows work has been done. Finance knows what has been posted. Between the two sits a difference nobody can fully account for, usually reconstructed by hand in a spreadsheet, late, and only when someone asks.
That gap is not an accounting problem. It is a control problem. If the current cost position cannot be trusted, the forecast built on top of it cannot be trusted either, and the chance to protect margin has usually passed by the time the difference is understood.
Foras exists to make that difference visible, decided and recorded — not hidden inside a workbook that only one person can maintain.
What Foras does today
A connected loop from site activity to forecast.
Each stage feeds the next, and every number can be traced back to what produced it.
Capture on site
Site diary records labour, plant and materials with evidence and occurrence dating, classified so it becomes commercially useful rather than a narrative log.
Site to commercial controlsHold a cost position
Budget, work breakdown where used, and cost to date give a current position rather than a month-old snapshot.
Project cost controlReconcile with Finance
Captured cost is compared against posted Finance actuals, with each difference carrying a recorded decision and an author.
Finance reconciliationForecast the outcome
Cost to complete and forecast final cost are built from the reconciled position, so variance against approved budget is explainable.
Construction cost forecastingWho we build for
Commercial and project delivery teams.
Our primary users are Commercial Managers and Project Managers on contracting and civils projects, supported by Quantity Surveyors, Project Directors and project Finance. They are the people who have to defend a number in a monthly review.
Foras is deliberately not an accounting system. Finance remains authoritative for posted actuals, and Foras complements the ERP rather than replacing it.
How we work
Built alongside live projects.
Foras is an early-stage company working closely with a small number of contractors on live projects. Product decisions come from real commercial reviews, real Finance exports and real site records, not from a feature roadmap written in isolation.
We describe capability that exists in the product today. Anything still in development is discussed as such, and every example on this site uses clearly labelled illustrative demo data rather than customer information.
If you run projects where the cost position and the Finance ledger keep diverging, we would like to hear how you handle it today.
